Pride

Posted on January 22nd, 2008 by Bruce Cook

I’ve been meaning to post a few words ever since Sunday night.  Despite the fact that the Eagles went through instead of us, I can’t tell you how proud I was on Sunday night to be a part of the Rocks organisation.  The fans turned out in droves and the players laid it all on the court.  In the end we all knew that our boys were winners.  They always have been winners, and I know our day to bring home the silverware will soon come.  But they - and all of you who were there cheering your hearts out - were absolutely awesome.  You also saw how a great crowd can lift a team to greatness.  Let’s do it again… and again… and again… and again…and…

Like Rob said - we won, but it felt like a loss.

There are a lot of positives to take from the game - we started the game over 20 points down yet at one point near the end of the game we were winning on aggregate. Not many of us would have predicted that, but this team managed it.

The team gave everything, and I’m glad that such a big crowd were there to witness it. Hopefully many of them will return to see how the rest of the season pans out.

I hope this game gives the team renewed confidence in themselves. They played with passion, which is all we can ask for, and showed that they are capable of beating anyone in this league.

We may not have qualified for the next stage of the trophy competition, but it was still a great night for the whole Rocks organisation - players, staff, match day crew and fans.
